Update 1
Today I woke up and decided the game needs to be horizontal instead of vertical. Originally the thought was about mobile but even there it's ok if you have to rotate your device to play. Advantage is, it doesn't immediately shout "mobile" in your face and I can easier do a PC version in parallel.
Also looking forward to talk with someone who might be interested in doing the art. It would be an awesome art style that would fit quite well with this kind of game. With that I would switch the theme as well. Instead building houses, we might experiment with growing nature. Flowers, trees and such. Will see. Early thoughts.
I read more about the Godot documentation and learned about new methods like loading global scripts to all scenes or GetSet which will help me greatly making this work.
For now you can try to beat your own highscore and there is only the one pre-defined level.

Haha, I head EXACTLY the same realization. My game started with vertical as well, but at some point i changed it. :D
